THEOLOGICAL EDUCATION IN GEORGIA DURING THE PERIOD OF CATHOLICOS-PATRIARCH OF ALL GEORGIA ILIA II

The article describes theological schools of the ancient era in various church centers, including: Alexandria, Jerusalem, Rome, Carthage, and later Constantinople, Cappadocia, etc. It also focuses on existence of similar theological schools in Georgian theological centers both inside and outside the country. It’s emphasized that the work of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II in the great religious-national cause of the revival of theological education is based on the common Christian and, simultaneously, Georgian church tradition with a special niche.
