Abstract

The article discusses the position of the Kingdom of Imereti in Russian-Ottoman relations in the second half of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century which shows that this historical period brought about turning points for all three powers. The work describes the foreign policy of Imereti and its internal socio-economic life amid the acute confrontation between the two empires, which marked the reigns of Solomon I and Solomon II. Based on the available historical materials, all the threats that the Kingdom of Imereti faced, including the ambitious and destructive treacherous alliances with enemies of the rulers of other principalities, are outlined. Amid the analysis of the results of Russian-Ottoman Imereti relations, the article emphasizes growing dynamics of Russia’s aggressive policy, since it ultimately concluded with the abolition of the Kingdom of Imereti
and other principalities.
